ROMEO & JULIET ART PROJECT

Art project won the international competition of the European Shakespeare Festival Network 2022. Exhibition and performance were presented at the Shakespeare festivals of Craiova in Romania, Itaka in Serbia, Helsingør in Denmark and Gdansk in Poland in the summer of 2022. The exhibition and performance supported each other to create a complete visual representation of a tragic love story from our time.

I participate in the ESFN festival from May to August 2022!

Announcing the result of the process, ESFN Chair Philip Parr said, ‘After a very close decision we have an exciting winner, who fulfils all the aspirations we had for this project – it is new and innovative cross artform work, combining theatre and visual art, which explores Shakespeare in our time and emphasises his enduring relevance. In 2022, four festivals will host Romeo and Juliet – Craiova (Romania), Itaka (Serbia), Gdansk (Poland), Hamletscenen (Denmark).

DE ELSKENDE

De Elskende – “Skærsommernats drøm” – Performance – Odense

FREE FROM SHAKESPEARE’S “A Midsummer Night’s Dream ” – 7 new acting talents from Odense Teater present the art project “The Lovers” in an imagined universe where everything is possible. Each player evokes a multiplicity of beings – always a different one in each new moment – always in contact with another. The staging is a game where the pictures, video, text and movement, sound and silence, gender and identity, dream and reality flow together between improvisation and arrangement. Visual collaboration in August and September with actor and director Marion Reuter.

PELLEAS & MELISANDE by MAURICE MAETTERLINK
The third year of acting at The Danish National School of Performing Arts in Odense has in their dramatic immersion course for 5 weeks examined the space between actor and role as well as the space between the actors, the text and the audience.
A variation on texts by Maurice Maetterlink’s play Pelleas and Melisande .
Visual collaboration in August and September with actor and director Marion Reuter. The performance’s text fragments are a deconstruction of Maetterlink’s original text, sampled with the students’ own texts, exploring the chaotic world we live in now.
The staging is a living negotiation space where text and movement, sound and silence, being oneself.

feb-nov.
I am currently very busy working at The Danish National School of Performing Arts as Dean of the Scenography Department. A lot of program planning for next semester, and of course, current workshops/consultations with students. Occasionally I manage to get into my painting studio, currently working on small formats – the need to paint gives me energy for my schoolwork. Otherwise, it would not be possible to work at school. In November I will be returning to my paintings 24 hours a day and to my project with Rolf Alme. It is a pleasure to think about it.
